With the article and presentations from last week, there are so many benefits to implementing this into education and teaching. Students can often find it much more relatable and there are so many issues and topics that can be pulled from it and used for student writing, and assignments. It provides a creative outlet for students to create different types of writings. I sometimes teach an ESL course at my college, and I think that implementing this to our classroom could be quite helpful and interesting for the students. It would also allow them to be creative and express themselves regarding their interests/hobbies. I have often thought about using a Found Poetry assignment with them and have them create short poems about a particular topic.
Rhyming and hip hop have also been helpful studying tools for many of my students. When discussing study skills and habits in my one course, students will often say that they have to create some sort of rhyme or short song about a particular topic or subject area and they can rhyme it off to themselves and it helps them study as well.
All in all, something that I want to continue to research and implement into my teaching.
